The Power of Video
Q: Why video?
A: Video is transforming the internet just as television transformed our nation in the 1950’s and early 60’s.
Pictures and text via the internet are great and have brought the world together over the last 15 years with information and knowledge being shared at the click of a mouse.
In the last 18 months to 2 years the internet has gained enough bandwith and speed to now allow motion pictures and sound to be streamed to your computer at a quality that is now tolerable and useful. The picture quality and streaming reliability is getting better every month. Bill Gates predicts the internet will interface with TV as we know it today and in the somewhat near future the two mediums will become one.
The uses for video are limitless. A parallel would be learning that electricity is availablefor the first time and you are free to think of all of the possible uses for it. The same holds true for video communication and entertainment on the internet. There are limitless possibilities. You have a blank piece of white paper in front of you; be creative and think of how you can use video online for you.
Video allows you to elicit emotion through moving pictures, audio descriptions and sound, the same way your current television does, only now you are in control of your own programming, content and distribution.
The very valuable internet of the past was text and stationary pictures which was a sight stimulated experience. Video and motion pictures now allows you to stimulate many more of the human senses for a more “whole brain” presentation of information and entertainment.
Again, the uses are limitless. Electricty (streaming video) has just been discovered, be creative and think of the next use.
